The Hockey Journey

By: Heather @ 9:35 pm

Hockey, hockey, hockey! The season is so close, we can almost taste it! Fan summits, newscasts, all forms of social media and etc, are all about hockey and this year’s current predictions. It won’t be long until we all become immersed in the sport the defines us a nation. As the official movers of the Montreal Canadiens, we at Westmount Moving and Warehousing take pride in our team and follow them closely pre-season, current season and of course post season. This week, two amazing stories were presented in the news, two stories that demonstrated the beginning of a pro-athletes journey and the end of one.

This past Thursday, the Montreal Canadiens rookie camp began and so did the hype as journalists and sports commentators speculated as to which rookie to look out for this coming season. Among those were Jarred Tinordi, Nathan Beaulieu, Michael McCarron, Zachary Fucale, Tim Bozon, Ben Duffy, Magnus Nygren, Darren Dietz, Charles Hudon and Sven Andrighetto. We definitely added size and strength to the team, with players like Tinordi (6 foot 6 defenseman) and McCarron (6 foot 5, 240 pounder) and of course incredible talent. Hudon was a standout at the world juniors and the others mentioned all have incredible stats to go along with their names. We look forward to watching them this season!

At the end of his hockey journey, this former Montreal Canadiens player is now beginning a new career path that looks as promising as ever. Mathieu Darche retired from the NHL last February and for the past month has begun his new career as the director of business development and public relations for Delmar International Inc. This career change is not a step back or a last resort scenario. He always wanted to end up in business after receiving his international business degree from McGill in 2000. While he is excited for his new adventure, Darche will not be far from the hockey world. He will still be in the RDS studio and be a hockey analyst and is also a sponsor of TSN Radio 690’s Canadiens post game show. Aside from his new business venture, Darche will also be participating in a renowned charity event this coming October for the Alzheimer’s Group called Bowling with the stars.
